Dr. Omagino .O.O. John is a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Executive Director / Accounting Officer at Uganda Heart Institute (UHI). He is also a member of the UHI Board of Directors and past president of the Uganda Heart Association.

He has been a visiting lecturer for over 10 years and has supervised over 50 post-graduate medical research studies at the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University. Dr. Omagino has been instrumental in establishing cardiac services in Uganda and his life goal is to improve access to cardiac surgery for children and young adults in low and middle-income countries like Uganda. He has received Medals and Awards such as Independence medal, Rotary District 9200, Ministry of Health Outstanding Achievement Award, among others for his outstanding contributions in promoting cardiac care in Uganda. Dr. Omagino is currently a proud member of the American College of Cardiology.
