Coronary Care Unit
Patients with heart attacks, unstable angina, cardiac dysrhythmia and various other cardiac
conditions that require continuous monitoring and treatment are well taken care of in the
Coronary Care Unit at UHI.
Cardiac Critical Care
Cardiac patients require high level full time one-to-one nursing, extensive advanced monitoring,
multi-organ support and many an endless lists of supportive care needs.
Our Cardiac Critical Care service is responsible for fulfilling these needs by ensuring that there
is appropriate equipment for critical care, treatment of patients, teaching residents/ fellows, and
conducting research. All this makes the service costly in terms of equipment hence raising
challenges of sustainability.
Cardiac Ambulance Service
The Cardiac ambulance service is an Advanced Cardiac life Support (ALSL2-Advance Life Support
Level 2 Emergency). It is a type of emergency service which provides at least three separate
administrations of one or more medications by intravenous push/bolus or by continuous Infusion
