The priority areas of research at UHI were developed in line with the mandate of the UHI as well as the needs of the country taken into consideration. The areas to be covered will include:

1. Epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases
2. Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases
3. Natural history, clinical profiles as well as clinical outcomes of cardiovascular diseases
4. Healthcare systems in the delivery of cardiovascular services
5. Disparities in the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cardiovascular diseases Capacity building
